In the trial

  • Two posts a week in your voice, held for your approval before anything publishes
  • A comment policy keeping client interaction off the public profile and routing crisis language to 988 in a private reply
  • Bios rebuilt to carry the license, the states you can practice in, and a link straight to the booking step

Social media management for a therapy practice

For most practices social is a credibility check, not a lead source. Someone finds you on Google, opens Instagram to see whether a real person runs the place, and checks whether anything was posted this quarter. That is the whole job, and two posts a week does it.

What to post: short psychoeducation in your own words, what a first session looks like, your fee and insurance position stated plainly, when a group has openings, the occasional thing about your town. What not to post matters more. Never engage a client in comments and never follow one back, because a like from a therapist identifies the relationship to anyone reading. Hide comments carrying clinical detail and reply privately with the crisis line where warranted.

The common failure is handing the account to someone posting generic quote graphics under your license. After two weeks you should have a month of drafted posts in your voice and a written comment policy.

Questions

Therapists ask

Should I follow clients back?

No. Following, liking or accepting a request identifies that person as connected to a mental health practice, which is a disclosure nobody gave you permission to make. A line in your practice policies explaining this in advance saves an awkward moment later.

Do I have to be on video?

It helps and it is not required. A written post with your own photograph and a plain caption reads as more credible than a polished graphic that could have come from any practice in the country.
